**Warning, some readers may find the content of this article disturbing.** Edmonton police responded to a shooting at the Alberta Pipe Trades College and Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local Union No. 488 property on Friday morning. “This morning at approximately 8:20 a.m. a shooting occurred in the parking lot at Local 488,” Rod McKay of United Association Local 488 confirmed in a statement. The union shares a building with the trade school near Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street NW. “Police responded and are currently investigating the incident. As a precaution, our buildings remain under lockdown until further notice,” McKay said. “The safety and well-being of our staff, instructors, members, students, and visitors remain our highest priority.” The union did not confirm in its statement if anyone had been injured. A student at the school told CTV News Edmonton she was on the third floor when she heard five to six gunshots from the parking lot below. She says she saw one person with gunshot wounds to the chest. Another student said he was standing in the parking lot next to his car when he heard gunshots. “I hear probably 15 to 20 gunshots. Looked behind me, didn’t see anything, and I just sprinted probably like 50 metres around the corner into the school,” he said. “Within a couple minutes, police were already here in the hallways.” A third student said he called 911 after hearing gunshots in the parking lot. “I can see a pool of blood, a guy’s hand,” he said. “I’m just telling this all to the dispatch. I’m like, ‘There’s someone out there laying. Get the police over here right now.’” CTV News Edmonton has requested information from the Edmonton Police Service.
