September is the most common month for birthdays in Canada, while you’re least likely to hear “Happy Birthday” sung over the Christmas holidays. Statistics Canada released statistics on Thursday ranking birthdays from the most to least common, basing the data on the daily number of live births in Canada between 1995 and 2025. “How common is your birthday?” Statistics Canada asked in a social media post. “Babies born on leap day (Feb. 29) had the least common birthday in Canada from 1995 to 2025, while those born on September 20 had the most common.” Sept. 20 is the most common birthday in Canada, with the eight most common birthdays between Sept. 7 and 26. The least common birthday in Canada is Feb. 29, which only happens once every four years. Next on the list for least common birthdays are Christmas Day (Dec. 25), Boxing Day (Dec. 26) and Christmas Eve (Dec. 24.). New Year’s Day ranked 362 for most common birthdays, while New Year’s Eve ranked 359th. Statistics Canada ranked 332nd on the list by Statistics Canada
