Clouds and cool air will hang over the Edmonton area and most of Alberta for another day. Temperatures are expected to stay below 0 C throughout the day Thursday in Edmonton, hitting a high of -1 C. Looking ahead to Friday-Sunday: colder mornings (lows in the -8 C range)... but back above 0 C in the afternoons. Friday should get a degree or two above 0 C and then we’ll have highs in the 1 to 5 C range for Saturday/Sunday. I’m splitting the difference and going with highs of 3 C for both days. With some sunshine... the snow should be mostly gone or all gone/melted by the end of the weekend. Warmer air settles in for next week and it looks likely that we’ll have afternoon highs in the 4 to 9 C range in Edmonton. It also looks like a fairly dry pattern with no significant precipitation expected through the first week of November. Looking LONG range: There doesn’t appear to be another cold spell coming. Temperatures should be mild/seasonally “warm” through to mid-November. So...this current cool spell will probably be some of the coldest temperatures we get for the next two (or more) weeks. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Cloudy. High: -1 Tonight - Mostly cloudy this evening, clearing overnight. 9pm: -3 Friday - Partly cloudy.
