A northern Alberta man faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of another man. RCMP arrested and charged 21-year-old Jardin Cardinal of Child Lake First Nation on Saturday in connection with the death of Trevor Fournier. Police found Fournier, 48, dead in his home on the First Nation, about 35 kilometres east of High Level, on July 17, 2023. High Level RCMP said in a media release that he died from a gunshot wound. Cardinal remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in High Level court Thursday. High Level is about 600 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
