Another candidate has officially joined the race to become Brantford-Brant South’s next MP. The Green Party of Canada has confirmed Kathryn Kissinger will be their candidate when voters head to the polls on Dec. 7 for a federal byelection. Kissinger will be facing off with the Conservatives’ Kevin Davis, Liberal Joy O’Donnell, NDP Brad Ward and Independent candidate Dave Carrol. The byelection was triggered after Larry Brock resigned as the area’s MP in September. He said he wanted to leave federal politics and return to the Crown prosecutor’s office. The byelection drew headlines when Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre appointed Kevin Davis as the party’s candidate. Many party members had been expecting a nomination process. A day before Davis’ candidacy was announced, Brock had endorsed Carrol as his replacement. Advanced voting will take place in Brantford-Brant South on November 27, November 28, November 29 and November 30, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Dec. 7, the polls will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. With reporting from Spencer Turcotte
