A registered charity is asking the public to help them get a better idea of who the people commemorated at the Guelph Cenotaph were. Faces to Names is holding ‘Remembrance Discovery Day’ at the Guelph Civic Museum on Norfolk Street from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Nov. 22. They are asking families to bring keepsakes related to the people whose names appear on the Guelph Cenotaph. “Remembrance Discovery Day is a little like Antiques Roadshow, but the value we’re looking for is in the stories,” Karen Hunter, founder and executive director of Faces to Names, said in a news release. “A photograph or letter can reveal someone’s personality - their humour, interests, and hopes for the future. These personal details help students connect with the people behind the names on our Cenotaph, making remembrance more meaningful and relevant.” Digital copies may be made of material shared during Remembrance Discovery Day if the owner allows the organization to do so. “Families don’t need to have a complete history,” Hunter said. “Even a single photograph or a small piece of information could provide an important clue.” Anyone who believes they have something to share is encouraged to register ahead of time by emailing hello@facestonames.ca.
