Ontario Provincial Police say four people were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Puslinch, just outside of Guelph. Two others were also taken to a hospital with what OPP described as serious, life-threatening injuries. No further details were shared about their condition. The crash happened on Watson Road South around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said four of the six people inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. “I know that we are in the midst of identifying the occupants and notifying the family members,” Sgt. Ed Sanchuk told CTV News on Saturday afternoon. “As a father, my heart just sinks to my stomach and I can’t even imagine that knock on the door. From our OPP family to every one of their family members, our thoughts and our deepest condolences go out to you.” Photos showed a damaged guard rail before a bend in the road. On the other side was a steep slope leading to a wooded area. CTV News also saw a mangled vehicle being towed from the scene of the crash. At 12 p.m., OPP warned Watson Road South between Wellington Road 34 and Maltby Road East could remain closed for another six to eight hours. “An extensive on-scene investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit,” they wrote in a press release. Police said it was too early in their investigation to share further details and a press conference would be held Sunday morning at their detachment in Rockwood. They would also like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash. “Anyone that lives on Watson Road South that may have dash camera footage or a video surveillance system that may have captured this incident are being asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122,” Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media. With reporting from Hannah Schmidt
