Crews restore power to storm-battered Ontario as tornado teams probe damage

Utility crews are working to restore power to thousands of Ontario customers after powerful thunderstorms downed trees and prompted tornado warnings.

Hydro One says about 2,700 customers are without power as of 8:30 a.m. in southwestern Ontario after last night’s storm.

London Hydro has updated it’s outage map to show over 1,300 customers still impacted in the Argyle area. The original time of restoration was 10 a.m., but has since been pushed back to some time between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Storm researchers from Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University are investigating damage from yesterday’s storms in the London region, and added no tornadoes have yet been confirmed.
