Dogs involved in London attack already on muzzle order, known to animal control

Three dogs at the centre of an investigation into the attack on a woman in a London park, were already known to animal control and under a muzzle order, according to animal control.

On Monday afternoon, police warned the public about the medium-sized rottweilers after a woman was attacked in the city’s east side.

The public was asked to be vigilant after the animals were last seen on the loose in the area of Thompson Road Park, just north of Gladstone Avenue early Monday afternoon.

According to police, the woman who was attacked, was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

CTV News reached out to London police for more information about the dogs, their owner and to find out if any charges will be laid, and was directed to Animal Care and Control with the City of London.

When the same questions were asked to the city, a statement was released through the Director of Municipal Compliance, Amanda Pfeffer.

“London Animal Care Centre Animal Services Officers assisted the London Police Service on Monday at Thompson Road Park in response to what has been confirmed to be a serious dog bite incident. Efforts continued throughout the day and the evening to locate the three dogs alleged to have been involved in the attack. All three dogs have since been captured and are secured at the London Animal Care Centre. The animals are known to animal control staff and were subject to a muzzle order at the time of the attack. The incident and the circumstances that led to it will be the subject of further investigation but as this is an ongoing investigation, city staff are not able to provide further information at this time.”
