A road closure around Western University goes into effect Monday. Western Road will be closed south of the Sarnia Road intersection to Althouse College for approximately two weeks as construction continues, to complete sewer, watermain, and utility connections. Scheduled to begin today, the closure is expected to stay in place until July 20. During this time, only left-turn from Sarnia Road onto Western Road, and right-turns from Western Road onto Sarnia Road will be maintained where possible. According to the city, motorists should expect delays when travelling in the area. Businesses will remain open during the closure. Detour routes will be clearly signed via Sarnia Road, Wonderland Road North, and Oxford Street West. The overall project includes lane reductions on Western Road between Platt’s Lane and Burnlea Walk through late fall 2026. Philip Aziz Avenue remains closed and is expected to reopen in July 2027.
