The latest social media craze seems to be the “Hey Mom, what were you like in the 90s?” phenomenon. Celebrities, influencers, and everyday social media users are going viral by sharing throwback photos highlighting what they were doing in the so-called “best” decade. Like the “2016 trend” and the “This is who trend,” this viral sensation provides users with a feeling of nostalgia. “We had the best music, no one was following us around and we could just live our lives,” said CTV London’s Julie Atchison. “I had a lot of fun in the 90s.” CTV London’s Lauren Stallone and Carlyle Fiset caught up with their moms and learned what they were up to in the 90s. “I remember it, in the early 90s, with the birth of both of my children,” said Angela Fiset. “I remember going to step aerobics, that was the big thing, wearing matching bodysuits and leggings.” Leanne Stallone described the 90s as a “great period” in her life. “It was a big decade for me because I went from high school to adulthood,” said Stallone. “There were lots of changes, ups and downs and you get through them but I wouldn’t change any bit of it for the world.” Celebrities that took part in the trend included 90s icons like Reese Witherspoon, Courtney Cox, and Drew Barrymore.
