The 39th year for the London Food Bank’s spring drive has been one of its best with more than 74,000 pounds of food collected as of Monday afternoon. Organizers say that number is up by 2,000 pounds from last year. “We didn’t know what to expect this time,” said Glen Pearson, co-executive director of the London Food Bank. “It started off very strong, dipped a bit during the week, and then finished up with a good finish.” The increase in donations will fill a need, because in the first three months of 2026, the demand for the food bank is up 9.5 per cent. “We are seeing that happen and we are warned by a lot of organizations that this number will continue to increase over the next four to five years,” said Pearson. Even though the spring drive wrapped up Monday, it’s not too late to give. You can visit any participating grocery store or London fire hall with non-perishable food items. You can also make a monetary donation online. Pearson added, “We will still be collecting well into this week and as always we really appreciate the generosity of Londoners who continue to give year after year.”
