Police in Sault Ste. Marie seek tips to identify two men seen on video stealing $1,000 in copper from a local construction site on June 2. — Sault police and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a theft from a construction site earlier this month.

Surveillance captures incident

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District released details of the incident last week, appealing for tips to help solve the case.

Authorities said the incident occurred at a building site on June 2.

Police said that surveillance video showed two unknown men arrive at the site in a blue Ford F150 pickup truck.

“Unable to enter the building, they proceeded to take copper attached to the building valued at $1,000.00,” Crime Stoppers said in a news release.

Suspect description

One of the suspects appears in the video as a male with a medium build, wearing a grey t-shirt, jeans and a dark baseball cap with sunglasses.

Both suspects arrived in a blue late-model Ford pickup truck.

Appeal for information

“Do you recognize these individuals?” asked Crime Stoppers in a related social media video.

“If you have any information, please contact Crime Stoppers,” the organization added in its release.

Information can be provided directly to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
