Pilot injured in float plane crash north of Cochrane

One person sustained minor injuries following a float plane crash on Lillabelle Lake, just north of Cochrane, on Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of the crash around 11:40 a.m.

“The investigation determined the aircraft experienced mechanical issues before crashing into the lake,” the OPP said in a news release.

“The lone pilot sustained minor injuries, was able to safely exit the aircraft and was rescued by nearby co-workers.”

“The James Bay OPP would like to thank all emergency responders and assisting parties for their quick response and assistance,” police added.
