Ontario Provincial Police say they’ve charged a 31-year old Verner man with impaired driving a side-by-side off-road vehicle Oct. 27. After stopping a vehicle just before 1 a.m. on Levac Road in West Nipissing, the driver was arrested for impaired operation, police said in a release Wednesday. “A subsequent search of the vehicle located a small quantity of a substance suspected to be cannabis,” police said. “The driver was transported to the OPP detachment for further testing but refused to comply with a demand for a breath sample.” A man has been charged with impaired driving, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, obstructing a peace officer, driving without insurance and driving with cannabis readily available. The accused is scheduled to appear in a North Bay court Jan. 7. His driver’s licence was suspended and the side-by-side was impounded for seven days.
