Residents in Timmins are being asked to avoid the area of New Street and Bristol Road on Wednesday as Timmins police respond to an ongoing incident.

“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area if possible and to keep a safe distance to allow emergency personnel to carry out their duties safely and effectively,” police said in a news release late in the morning on May 20.

“Residents and motorists are also reminded to be mindful of police vehicles, officers on scene and any temporary road restrictions that may be in place.”

No other information was released, but police did say more details would be made public “when appropriate.”

“The Timmins Police Service thanks the public for their patience and cooperation,” the release said.
