A man from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., is celebrating a major lottery win after scratching out a $250,000 prize on an instant game ticket. Benjamin S. struck it rich playing a Cash Boost Scratch ticket (Game #2576), a $10 lottery scratch ticket with odds of winning any prize at 1 in 3.77. Players scratch five lucky numbers, their 20 number and 10 boost numbers completely to match one or more of the lucky numbers to one or more of their numbers to win the corresponding prize(s) or to match one of the lucky numbers to one of the boost numbers to win both prizes in that boost numbers area. More details about the game can be found on the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s website. Benjamin told OLG this was their first big win. “While I was at the store, I decided to pick up a scratch ticket. I looked down at the display case and chose cash boost,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. Benjamin told OLG the first thing he did was call his dad. “I was surprised he believed me right away. He must have heard it in my voice. He passed the phone over to my mom, and she was thrilled,” he said. The Sault man said he plans to put his prize toward bills, home renovations and a new fence for his backyard. The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Wellington Street West in Sault Ste. Marie, OLG confirmed.
