Brockville, Ont. man charged after disturbances at hospital, fire department

Brockville police say a 37-year-old man is facing an assault charge following disturbances at the Brockville Fire Department and the Brockville General Hospital Saturday night.

Police were called to the fire department on Perth Street at around 9 p.m. as a man tried to get inside.

The suspect was arrested for mischief and causing a disturbance, police said.

While in custody, he experienced what police called a “medical event” and was brought to the hospital. Police allege the man became agitated at the hospital and shoved a nurse, who was not seriously injured.

Police remained with the man until he was seen by a doctor.

The man is charged with assault but is not charged in connection with the disturbance at the fire station, police said. He was released from custody on a promise to appear in court.
