More drivers caught at Ottawa’s red light cameras so far in 2026

More drivers have been caught running red lights at Ottawa’s intersections so far in 2026, with the four busiest red light cameras located in downtown Ottawa.

Newly released data shows 14,165 tickets were issued to drivers through Ottawa’s red light camera program in the first four months of the year, up from 12,654 in the January to April period last year.

The busiest red light camera is on King Edward Avenue at St. Andrew Street in Lowertown, with 548 tickets issued in the first four months of the year. A total of 339 tickets were issued through the red light camera at the intersection during the same period last year.

The red light camera on Wellington Street at Bay Street caught 564 drivers running red lights during the January-April period, while the camera on King Edward Avenue at Besserer Street spoted 548 drivers running red lights.

A total of 521 tickets were issued to drivers by the red light camera at Kent Street at Arlington through the January to April period.

The fine for being caught running a red light by the red light camera is $325. The ticket for running the red light is issued to the registered owner of the vehicle, regardless of who is driving the car at the time of the alleged offence.

Ottawa currently has 86 red light cameras located at intersections across the city. Nine cameras did not issue any tickets for red light violations in the first four months of the year, and no reason is given for the zero tickets.
