Ottawa police hate crime unit looking into incident at Kanata church

The Ottawa Police Service says its hate crime unit is looking for witnesses to an incident at a church in Kanata last Sunday.

According to police, a suspect entered the church on Rothesay Drive at around 9:20 a.m., damaged something on the high altar, shouted profanities, left the church, and drove away.

No one inside the church interacted with the individual, no one was hurt, and no weapons were reported, police said.

The Ottawa police Hate and Bias Crime Unit is asking to speak with any witnesses who have not yet contacted police. Anyone with information is asked to call the unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5015.
