An Ottawa restaurant has closed its doors after more than 40 years of serving Mexican cuisine in the capital. In a statement on social media, the owners of Pancho Villa on Elgin Street said they have shut down operations after 42 years in business. “This decision was heartbreaking for our family to make. For 42 years, this restaurant has been more than just a business to us—it has been our second home, and all of you have been our extended family,” a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page reads. “We have shared countless celebrations and years of meeting new people that had their own story to tell about what Pancho’s meant to them.” The restaurant says its final day of business was Sunday, Sept. 27. The Facebook post did not indicate why the restaurant was closing.
