A driver in his late teens is in serious condition after rolling his car over into a ditch early Wednesday morning, according to Ottawa paramedics. The crash happened at around 3:45 a.m. on Cedarview Road near Lytle Avenue. Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said the teen was the only one in the car. He was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in serious condition. Ottawa Fire Services public information officer Nick DeFazio said firefighters were called to the scene to help extricate the driver, who was trapped in the car, which was found upside down in the ditch. “Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the SUV was approximately 25 to 30 feet from the roadway and entangled in a livestock fence,” DeFazio said in a post on X. “Crews quickly cut away sections of the fence and nearby trees to access the vehicle. The lone occupant was trapped inside with one arm pinned beneath the roof of the SUV.” Using specialized tools, firefighters safely removed the driver from the vehicle by 4:18 a.m.
