The Glebe is one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Canada this summer, with a boost in bookings to stay at short-term rentals in the Ottawa neighbourhood. Airbnb has released the list of “Canada’s trendiest neighbourhoods,” which are neighbourhoods with bookings up nearly 180 per cent year-over-year. The Glebe is one of the top 10 trendiest neighbourhoods in Canada, according to Airbnb. “Travellers aren’t abandoning traditional tourist corridors — they’re simply spending in more places too, expanding the map of neighbourhoods that benefit from tourism,” Airbnb said in a media release. “Hosts are helping drive that spending: 86 per cent of host recommendations in Ontario are local to their neighbourhood.” The 10 trendiest neighbourhoods in Canada are: “Travellers today are looking for more than a place to stay, they’re looking for a sense of place—and it’s our local hosts who help them find it. Canadian hosts point guests toward the coffee shop on the corner or the walk through the park that makes a neighbourhood feel like home,” Hannah Parish, Country Manger of Airbnb Canada, said in a statement. “This list reflects how different communities look across the country.” Airbnb says the typical guest in Canada spends over $300 per day on their trip. A survey found 58 per cent of guests likely wouldn’t have visited the neighbourhood of their listing if it weren’t for staying there.
