Two Ottawa natives sign undrafted free agent contracts with NFL teams: reports

Two more Ottawa natives will be heading to the NFL next season, according to reports.

TSN’s Dave Naylor reported shortly after the NFL draft Saturday that Wesley Bailey signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams.

The 6-foot-5 and 265-pound defender previously played for the Louisville Cardinals, making 12 starts and 39 tackles.

It was also reported that Ottawa’s Rene Konga, a defensive lineman, was signed to a guaranteed contract of $287,500 with the Miami Dolphins, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Konga played three seasons with Rutgers before playing his last two in Louisville.

Earlier this week, Ottawa’s Akheem Mesdior was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round, 22^nd overall, in the NFL Draft.

He became the first Canadian defensive player to be selected in round one.
