A new Costco is slated for development just west of Edmonton. A building labelled as a Costco is set to anchor a mixed-use commercial business park in Stony Plain, according to online renderings from the Hughes Commercial Realty Group. The cost of the project and tentative opening date were not available as of publication. The more-than-18-acre plot of land sits on the eastern mouth of the municipality along Highway 16A and Veterans Boulevard bordering Spruce Grove. Ten lots around the wholesale retailer are being sold by the firm for hundreds of thousands of dollars per acre. The group says the presence of a Costco is expected to drive “high-volume foot traffic.” Another Costco is currently under construction in northeast Edmonton.
