Drivers beware and behave, as speed cameras are making their return to the streets of Regina. Earlier this week, they were spotted in Saskatoon. Now new speed cameras are appearing on Regina’s Ring Road. The new cameras are part of a provincial changeover after SGI’s previous photo speed enforcement vendor, Verra Mobility Systems, ended its contract early. Unlike the previous box-based cameras, the new units operated by Global Traffic Group are pole-mounted. SGI told CTV News earlier this week that cameras were simply being replaced and that new camera locations are being added. SGI did not provide a date for when all of the cameras will be installed and operational – but did note they are expected to be in service soon. There are 27 speed camera locations across Saskatchewan, notably in Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, as well as assorted units on Highways 1 and 49. With files from Hayatullah Amanat
