The Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team, with support from several Regina police units, arrested two people after a traffic stop at Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street on May 4. An adult man and woman were taken into custody on outstanding warrants. During a search of the vehicle, police say they found a loaded handgun. The accused, aged 40 and 34, were jointly charged with careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm. The man also faces two counts of possessing a firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, failing to comply with a release order, and failing to comply with a probation order. Both appeared in Regina Provincial Court on May 5.
