Saskatoon firefighters battle apartment fire

Saskatoon fire crews responded to an apartment fire Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called at about 3:16 p.m. and reported seeing smoke while en route. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames coming from a third-floor balcony of a three-storey apartment building.

The fire department says crews attacked the blaze from the exterior while another team searched the building to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated.

Firefighters also checked for any spread of the fire and used a ladder truck to confirm it was fully extinguished.

As of 6 p.m., an investigator remained on scene to determine the cause of the fire and estimate the extent of the damage.

No injuries were reported.
