The Pentagon has released a new batch of declassified UFO files, including previously unseen videos and images of what is also known as “unidentified ariel phenomenon (UAP),” on Friday. Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s directive to begin the process of “identifying and releasing” documents related to alien and extraterrestrial life, UAP and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in January, this is the fifth batch of files to be released by the U.S. Department of War. Here’s what the latest release includes: Nine releases that include 41 total files have been posted on the official website, starting from one that dates back to incidents that occurred in 1950 and 1952. The files are gathered from the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, State Department and Executive Office of the United States’ President. According to the release, the earliest file contains a memorandum relating to an assessment of two films “allegedly depicting” unidentified airborne objects, captured in Montana and Utah in 1950 and 1952, respectively. “The objects depicted in the film demonstrated characteristics that were inconsistent with those of natural phenomena or commonly known aerospace technologies,” the release said. The remaining releases in this latest batch include files based on incidents that took place in 2002, 2011, 2023 and 2026. In one instance, video footage captured over the Gulf of Oman in 2021 appears to show an orb-like object moving irregularly in the sky. According to the report, it was identified as a UAP that measured around 1.2 metres in diameter. Another video depicts another round, sphere-like object moving in a straight line over what appears to be a residential area in an undisclosed location in the Middle East in 2025. One declassified FBI document says a former military pilot described seeing lights in the sky on a flight between Boston and Dublin in October 2023. He said that other pilots had witnessed similar events between midnight and 3 a.m. According to his testimony, the lights would begin looking dim and get progressively brighter before completely disappearing. Some remained still, while others were described to be moving in straight lines, changing directions. He said he had seen a variety of these lights at least ten times since first seeing them in 2023. Incidents reported in 2026 The most recent incidents documented by the Pentagon note ones that occurred solely in western U.S. All of these report “multiple red lights” observed by an interviewee in three separate incidents potentially involving UAPs within a five-hour period, the news release stated. The interviewee, whose name is redacted in the documents, stated that they saw two unidentified lights in the sky and pulled over to investigate, following which the lights allegedly moved along the ridgeline of the mountains, the official record of the interview by the FBI showed. They described the lights as “orb-like.” Another video captured this year by a “U.S. Government Special Agent” in the western U.S. shows “two, slow-moving ‘black-hot’ areas of contrast, visible in infrared imaging,” the Pentagon said. All of the images in this latest release are noted as renderings – artistic interpretations of first-hand descriptions of extra-terrestrial encounters. According to the Pentagon, this won’t be the last batch of files released. Spokesperson Sean Parnell said in report the the department will continue to “release additional files on a rolling basis.”
