Police in Surrey are investigating a shooting at a business and a vehicle fire that were reported less than 25 minutes part Thursday afternoon.

Police in Surrey are investigating a shooting at a business and a vehicle fire that were reported less than 25 minutes apart Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in Coverdale, near the intersection of 58 Avenue and 176 Street at 2:24 p.m., the Surrey Police Service said in a statement.

“Upon arrival, police located at least one business damaged by the gunshots. There have been no reported injuries,” the statement said.

At 2:47 p.m., police were called to the scene of a vehicle fire near 20 Avenue and 174 Street, according to the SPS.

“The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown. It is not, however, believed to be extortion related. Investigators will be examining whether the vehicle fire is connected to the shots fired,” the statement from police continued.
