Surrey police said a man was arrested and a gun was seized after officers found him unresponsive behind the wheel of a car early Sunday morning. The Surrey Police Service said, just before 1:30 a.m., officers were called to 18 Avenue and 138 Street with reports of a person “slumped over” in their car, stopped in the middle of the intersection. Police arrived and found the man alone where he was reported to be, and then used several police cars to box in his vehicle, the SPS said. “Officers were concerned the driver needed medical attention, and as officers tried to take him into custody, the man regained consciousness and tried to start the vehicle and drive away, which was prevented by the police cars,” the SPS said, in a statement. The man was then arrested, and Surrey police note that an unloaded gun, some ammunition, and three knives were found inside his vehicle. The man remains in police custody and has not yet been charged, police added.
