VANCOUVER — Home sales in the Vancouver region were 8.4 per cent lower last month compared with a year ago, as fewer apartment-style homes changed hands. Greater Vancouver Realtors says there were 1,717 home sales in September, which was 25 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average. Andrew Lis, the board’s chief economist and vice-president of data analytics, says despite the overall decrease, attached and detached home sales were slightly above last year’s levels. The composite benchmark price for all types of residential properties in Vancouver was $1,075,900, a 5.5 per cent decrease from September 2025 and down 0.6 per cent from August 2026. There were 5,852 new listings on the market last month, down 10.3 per cent year-over-year but 5.7 per cent above the 10-year average. Meanwhile, total inventory fell four per cent year-over-year to 16,394, which was 24.3 per cent above the long-term average. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Oct. 2, 2026.
