Mounties believe alcohol was a factor in an early morning crash in West Kelowna Tuesday that left two people dead. B.C. Highway Patrol says the two-vehicle collision occurred around 4 a.m. on Highway 97 near Campbell Road, near the west end of the William R. Bennett Bridge. “The preliminary investigation indicates an eastbound Toyota collided with a westbound Jeep. Emergency responders attended the scene and located four occupants involved in the crash,” the detachment wrote in a statement Thursday. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to Kelowna General Hospital with injuries police describe as not life-threatening. The B.C. Coroners Service is also working on the investigation. “Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have observed the driving behaviour of either vehicle before the collision occurred.
