Car salesman charged after alleged $40K fraud investigation in Windsor

A Windsor man previously flagged by provincial regulators is now facing criminal charges following a police investigation into alleged fraudulent vehicle sales.

According to Windsor police, 32-year-old Amir Al-Nasiri has been charged after investigators determined at least 15 people were allegedly defrauded of a combined $40,000 over the course of 2025.

Police allege Al-Nasiri sold multiple vehicles under false pretenses between January and September of last year.

According to investigators, some vehicles had odometers rolled back, others were sold with fraudulent safety inspections, some buyers never received the vehicles they paid for, and others unknowingly purchased scrap vehicles that had been misrepresented as roadworthy.

Following what police described as a “comprehensive investigation” by the Financial Crimes Unit, a warrant was issued for Al-Nasiri’s arrest.

Police say he turned himself in at Windsor police headquarters on Jan. 29, 2026.

He has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The charges come several months after the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) issued a public warning in October 2025, urging consumers in Windsor and Essex County to avoid purchasing vehicles from Naserati Auto, a business operated by Al-Nasiri on Drouillard Road.

At the time, OMVIC said neither Al-Nasiri nor Naserati Auto was registered with the regulator and therefore not legally authorized to sell motor vehicles in Ontario.

The council says Al-Nasiri was facing six charges before the courts under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and the Consumer Protection Act, adding that additional complaints were under investigation.

“We are urging anyone who purchased a vehicle from Amir Al-Nasiri or Naserati Auto to contact OMVIC immediately,” Jeff Donnelly, OMVIC’s chief consumer protection officer, said in October 2025.

He warned that consumers who buy from unregistered sellers risk losing thousands of dollars with no legal protection or recourse.

OMVIC has repeatedly cautioned that buyers who purchase vehicles from unregistered sellers are not protected by provincial legislation and are not eligible for compensation through the Motor Vehicle Dealers Compensation Fund.

The regulator encourages consumers to verify dealer registration, request a used vehicle information package, and have vehicles inspected by a trusted mechanic before purchase.
