More than $150,000 in cash, illegal drugs seized: WPS

The Windsor Police Service has seized more than $150,000 in cash and illegal drugs, part of a drug trafficking investigation.

An investigation was launched in June when the WPS said a man was suspected of trafficking illegal drugs into the city.

Just after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, police found a vehicle associated with the suspect in a parking lot in the 7100 block of Enterprise Way.

When officers tried to arrest the suspect, they said he hit two police cruisers while trying to escape. He was then arrested without further incident, and no physical injuries were reported.

A total of $5,585 was seized from the suspect. Search warrants were then carried out at a home in the 900 block of St. Luke Avenue, and two vehicles.

After those searches, the WPS seized:

• 129.4 grams of crack cocaine
• 1,420.3 grams of cocaine
• 160.1 grams of crystal meth
• 46 oxycodone tablets
• Digital scales
• Packaging materials

The estimated street value of the drugs is $145,344.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with six counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from a peace officer.
