Windsor’s Catholic Central High School celebrated Canadian diversity with its multicultural event ‘Roots and Resilience’ on Thursday. The school showcased cultural pride through traditional clothing, music, and dance performances representing countries from around the world. The exhibition also featured a wide variety of foods, giving students a chance to experience global cuisine from around the world in one location. Organizers say the event is about sharing identity, building understanding, and recognizing the diverse backgrounds that make up the school community. Melissa Cavallin, principal of the school, is very happy to support and engage with her student body that are so very enthusiastic about sharing their culture and heritage as a part of the expansive Canadian identity. “The beautiful thing about our school is that we can have conversations around faith and religion, regardless of the faith that our students belong to,” said Cavallin. “Everyone is welcome here. We embrace all of those things, our differences. But also, what makes us the same.”
