A research organization out of Western University has confirmed a tornado and microburst near the Manitoba-Ontario border last month. In an update on Monday, the Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed an EF0 microburst at Caddy Lake, Man. around 1 p.m. on July 6. The windspeed of the microburst, which is defined as a column of sinking air within a thunderstorm, is under review. The Northern Tornadoes Project also confirmed an EF2 tornado near Deception Lake, Ont. around 1:35 p.m. on the same day. Wind speeds in this incident reached 190 km/h, according to the research group. Both weather events resulted in tree damage; however, no injuries were reported. More information is available online.
