Diesel prices increased again overnight in New Brunswick. Prices jumped by eight cents during an unscheduled adjustment. The maximum price is now 228.8 cents per litre. Regular self-serve gasoline did not change overnight. New Brunswickers are still paying a maximum price of 183.1 cents per litre. Both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia issued two unscheduled increases for diesel prices this week. Fuel price expert Dan McTeague said diesel prices in the Maritimes are still catching up to supply shortage issues around the world. “Despite these high prices, they’re likely to go even higher,” said McTeague. “I’m not an advocate for higher prices but when demand is high and supply is historically low, something has to give.” McTeague said prices may surge further especially in the last week of July and the first week of August. Prices at the pumps did not change in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island overnight. The next scheduled adjustment for all three Maritime provinces is Friday.
