An inmate at a New Brunswick prison was taken to hospital Sunday after Correctional Service Canada (CSC) says they were the victim of an assault. The inmate, who is serving time at the maximum-security facility Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B., was evaluated by staff members and taken to hospital to receive treatment. The inmate has since returned to the institution. The Blackville Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the institution are investigating the incident. “The assailants have been identified, and the appropriate actions have been taken,” reads a news release from Correctional Service Canada. The government agency did not describe the nature of the inmate’s injuries. No staff were injured during the incident. For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
