The victim of a hit-and-run near Sackville, N.B., has died from his injuries. The RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the westbound lane of Highway 2 around 5 a.m. on Aug. 6. Police say the pedestrian, a 51-year-old man from Shediac, was wearing dark clothing, including a black hoodie, and was carrying two bags at the time of the collision. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. “The 51-year-old man, from Shediac, N.B., has since died as a result of his injuries. Our thoughts are with the man’s family, friends and community,” reads a Thursday news release from the New Brunswick RCMP. Police are asking anyone who was on Route 2 between Amherst, N.S., and Sackville, N.B., between 6 p.m. on Aug. 5 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 6, or anyone with information about the hit-and-run, to call the New Brunswick RCMP at 1-888-506-7267.
