A Thursday morning fire at a vacant home on the Disraeli Freeway is causing road closures in the area. According to the City of Winnipeg, crews responded to the fire near the freeway and Lily Street just after 6 a.m. Due to extreme conditions, firefighters are unable to go inside the home and are fighting the fire from the outside. The city expects crews will remain on scene throughout the morning and into the afternoon. A social media post from the Winnipeg Traffic Management Centre reports that northbound Disraeli is down to one lane. It notes that all northbound lanes are closed except for the median lane. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes. The traffic management centre also posted an image of the scene that shows smoke and flames billowing into the air.
