The fatal shooting of a man in the Fairview area of Halifax last year has been added to a provincial rewards program for unsolved crimes. Up to $150,000 is being offered for information related to the homicide of 38-year-old Uriah Lemar Black. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured man on McFatridge Road around 6:20 a.m. on Feb. 20, 2025. Officers found Black suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service ruled Black’s death a homicide. At the time, police did not believe it was a random act. “Investigators believe people may have information that could help advance this investigation,” said Attorney General and Justice Minister Scott Armstrong in a news release issued Monday. “I urge anyone who knows anything about what happened to Mr. Black to contact the rewards program and help bring answers to his loved ones.” The province is asking anyone with information about the crime to call the rewards program at 1-888-710-9090. People who come forward with information have to give their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
