The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1928 has submitted a 48-hour strike notice on behalf of hundreds of Nova Scotia Power workers. On its website, the union noted it had filed its intention to strike as required by the Nova Scotia Trade Union Act on Monday. The union represents roughly 800 employees with Nova Scotia Power. Last week, the union said its members voted against a second tentative agreement with the power utility. “The union will continue discussions with Nova Scotia Power throughout this process in the hope of reaching a negotiated agreement,” a previous statement from the union reads.
