A woman facing charges in connection to the discovery of a newborn’s remains in Halifax has been released on bail, according to the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service. Ramandeep Kaur – who was charged with concealing the body of a child, indignity to a dead body, obstruction of a peace officer and obstruction of justice – appeared in Halifax bail court on Thursday. She was released with a financial obligation and the following conditions: Kaur is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 14 for election and/or plea. Sukhpreet Singh, Kaur’s husband, faces similar charges. In May, police launched a two-day search for the infant after a 23-year-old woman who appeared to have just given birth showed up in hospital with life-threatening injuries. They eventually found the infant’s remains in a wooded area off Old Coach Road in Goodwood. The woman later died in hospital.
