A 72-year-old man has died after a three-vehicle collision in Springvale, P.E.I., near Colville Road on Monday. The Queens District RCMP says they responded to a report of a crash involving a car, tractor trailer and tow truck on Route 2 around 1:30 p.m. “Initial indication appears to show that a passenger car, struck the rear of a tractor trailer in front of it, and then collided with a tow truck that was traveling in the opposite direction,” reads a news release from RCMP on Wednesday. Island EMS, the North River Fire Department and the Department of Transportation all responded to the scene. The lone occupant of the car, a man from Queens County, was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries. Police say no one else was seriously injured, and they don’t suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing. For more P.E.I. news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
