Emergency services in Summerside, P.E.I., are telling some of its residents to stay inside. The city’s police and fire departments say there is an active fire at the city-owned Summerside Sunbank Solar/Battery Farm. They’ve issued a shelter-in-place advisory for residents and businesses along South Drive, from MacKenzie Drive to Bayview Drive. A news release says a shelter-in-place means residents should close all windows and doors, turn off any ventilation systems, and avoid travelling through the affected area. The release says emergency crews were on scene early on Monday. The city says the Summerside solar farm opened in 2024 and has a capacity of 21.6 megawatts.
