Barrie driver busted doing 2X speed limit in Angus

The Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police detachment.

Just before midnight, police busted a driver for allegedly driving twice the speed limit in Angus.

While conducting speed enforcement on Mill Street, a Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle travelling at 146 kilometres-per-hour in a 60 km/h zone, with no headlights on.

During the traffic stop, the officer noted signs of impairment and began investigating.

A 28-year-old, Barrie man was charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Dangerous operation
• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

He was released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges.
