The legacy of giving back to the community continues Monday at the Essex Golf and Country Club in LaSalle with the Circle of Seven 31st annual John Ferguson Memorial golf tournament. Once again, the charity event is sold out. All money raised by the event will go directly to local charities that don’t rely on public funding. It’s part of the founding members’ mission to help those in need over the last three decades. The charity has raised $4.5 million. Donations are accepted year-round on the Circle of Seven website. Rob Agnew is one of the original seven founding members. For Agnew, all contributions make a very real difference in the lives of many in our community. “Whatever you can do from $10 or up is so appreciated,” said Agnew. “And every single dollar will go to the charity. We have zero overhead. We have no salaries. We have no expenses.” Over the years, the Circle of Seven has held many other fundraising initiatives in the community including the Denim & Diamonds Gala, ‘Ed vs. Mary’ Olympic Boxing Bash, NHL All-Star Celebrity Auctions, Windsor-Essex Executives Charity Luncheons, and many others. In addition, the organization has been a major fundraiser for the Children’s Aid Society of Windsor-Essex, Cancer Care Ontario, CMHA, United Way, Riverside Miracle Park, Autism Windsor-Essex, Alzheimer’s Society, Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, Windsor Regional Hospital, all4mamas, and University of Windsor Schulich School of Medicine.
