Serge P. didn’t know that when he entered the Circle K in Barrie that night, he would walk out $100,000 richer. Serge said he’s been playing the lottery with OLG on and off for about 40 years. He won on a Maxplus prize in the October 2 LOTTO MAX draw. “I’m still processing this win,” he added. “It’s life-changing for me. In one word, I’d describe this whole experience as surreal.” Serge said he went into the convenience store on Mapleview Drive in Barrie to buy a drink and then bought a few tickets. The first one came up empty, but the second one… “When I scanned the second, ‘$100,000’ flashed on the screen. I couldn’t believe it! I kept calm, took a picture, and called my wife. She was the first person I told,” he said. Serge said his wife was just as surprised when he shared the news with her. “She asked, ‘Are you kidding me?’” he told the OLG staff with a chuckle. With his winnings, Serge plans to pay some bills and save for a rainy day.
