Colts stunned on home ice, fall 6-1 to Bulldogs in Game 4

Barrie Colts take on the the Brantford Bulldogs at Sadlon Arena Tuesday night.

Barrie’s push to protect home ice came up short Tuesday night.

The Colts dropped Game 4 of their playoff series, falling 6-1 to the Brantford Bulldogs at Sadlon Arena as the series now heads back to Brantford.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, scoring three times in the opening period. Cooper Dennis opened the scoring before Adam Benak added a power-play goal to make it 2-0.

Charlie Paquette struck late in the frame, sending Brantford into the first intermission with a three-goal lead.

Barrie found some life in the second period when Emil Hemming scored his ninth goal of the playoffs on the power play. Kashawn Aitcheson and Cole Beaudoin earned assists on the play as the Colts cut into the deficit.

Any momentum was short-lived. Dennis responded with his second goal of the night, and Paquette added another soon after to restore Brantford’s lead heading into the third.

The Bulldogs kept pushing in the final period, with Caleb Malhotra scoring on the power play to put the game out of reach.

Barrie will now prepare for Game 5 as the series shifts back to Brantford on Thursday night.
